Your local guide will take you through the most picturesque neighbourhood of Amsterdam, which is called " Jordaan". This part of Amsterdam with its narrow streets and small canals was built in the 17th century. The higher classes lived along the big canals, the lower classes and craftsmen in de Jordaan. Nowadays the area is the centre for art, musicians and antiques. The names of the streets all represent names of flowers or bushes, the real inner gardens however are hidden behind the facades of beautiful small gables. This neighbourhood offers great antique shops and other particular stores. Right on the edge of the Jordaan, next to the beautiful landmark of Westerkerk you will find the Anne Frank House where Anne Frank was hiding during the German occupation. This small, however impressive museum, is definitely worth a visit.

Anne Frank House, the hiding place where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary during World War Two. The original of the diary is on display as part of the Anne Frank House's permanent exhibition. Visiting the Anne Frank House has been a moving experience for millions of people from all over the world. (The Anne Frank house is open from 9am till 7pm (between 1st of April and end of august open till 9pm)
