The Kapitein Kok paddlewheel steamer, was built in 1911 in Kinderdijk, The Netherlands. Her original name was ?Nr. 6" since she was the 6th ship that was built to maintain a regular service on the river Lek in Holland, between Schoonhoven and Rotterdam. Hundreds of paddle wheelers were operating in Holland and sadly, they all have been demolished, except the remnants of old Lek boat ?Nr.6". In September of 1976 the 59 meter long Nr. 6 was brought back to her native waters and the largest restoration project in Holland started.

Kapitein Kok was the last commander of ?Nr. 6" and he gave the renovated vessel his name. New ones, reconstructed based on original blueprints, replaced the two paddlewheels. Each paddle wheel is four meters in diameter, has eight moveable paddleboards and a weight of five tons. The ship moves by these paddles as well as manoeuvres with them. The ship has no rudder. While cruising, guests can see the huge paddles moving and working through glass windows, a magnificent sight!

Today the Kapitein Kok hosts exclusive, private, parties and is the headquarters for the ?Sail? event, once every 5 years when the historic tall-ship-race visits the harbour of Amsterdam. Maximum capacity of the ship is over 350 persons. Her ambience, as well as her quaint interior will delight guests. Her upper, middle and lower decks are beautifully decorated and the Chef prepares superb food.
While cruising through the harbour and beyond, your guests will be enjoying an unforgettable event!
