Odeon

The building is situated in the heart of Amsterdam's Canal Belt and has a rich cultural heritage. It was originally constructed in 1663 as a beer brewery and was rebuilt in the 1830's as Amsterdam's first real concert hall. It was later used as a cinema and an auction house, in the late 1980s as a discotheque and event venue.. The Odeon Amsterdam has been recently purchased by the owner of Hotel Arena, and after a complete renovation was re-opened in April 2005. As in Hotel Arena, the classic elements of the building have been kept intact and a chique modern design (by Iding Design) has been given to the interior. The building houses a caf?/brasserie, a cocktail bar (the Green Room) a restaurantGold and Red Room) and the restored concert hall. During the day all of the rooms with the exception of the caf?/brasserie are available for rental for various commercial and cultural events, presentations and performances. From 18:30 the Red and Gold Room are used as restaurant, and the Concert hall is used a number of nights in the week as a club. The special atmosphere and various facilities in the building lend themselves perfectly to many different uses, and catering and banqueting possibilities from appetizers to lush meals are available in every part of the building. The new Odeon has become, as it was in the past, a center of both commercial and cultural activities in Amsterdam.
