In the days of Rembrandt and 2 centuries later Vincent Van Gogh, Holland was a country of potatoes. Meals were simple but rich with the only purpose to get sufficient vitamins and nutrician.
Nowadays (2007) Holland has a prominent list of star-restaurants in the famous Michelin Guide spread over the country. The Dutch have learned their culinairy lessons and without being pretentious one can say that Dutch Chefs rank among the best.
