Sand Sculpture Festival
Each summer, the seaside town of Zandvoort aan Zee plays host to the European Championships of Sand Sculpting. Forget tiny sand castles: the championships see sculptures of more than three metres height rise from the sand!
The sculptures will be on display from the 11th of June until the 30th of October. The judges will declare the winner on the 18th of June.
Cultural creations out of sand
The best ‘carvers’ have been selected from various European countries to represent an icon from their own national culture. With specially supplied (river) sand they make the most impressive creations of 3 by 3 and 3.5 meters high. Absolutely spectacular!
The sand sculptures will be exhibited at various locations in Zandvoort. You can find them at the Badhuisplein, Kerkplein and Raadhuisplein, which means that they are also easily accessible for the disabled. From Amsterdam you reach Zandvoort in about 30 minutes.
You can also overnight in Zandvoort. ITBholland can help you find a suitable accommodation for every taste and budget.
